Google said that it has expanded its jobs app, called Kormo Jobs, to India as the Search giant is looking to offer helps to millions who are looking for new jobs at the entry level. Google first launched Kormo Jobs in Bangladesh in 2018 and expanded it to Indonesia last year. In addition to helping users identify open calls for entry-level roles, Kormo Jobs app is also designed to help them learn new skills, and easily create a CV (Creating CV has become earlier). The app lists jobs based on the user's profile and allows them to create a digital resume as well.

According to Google, a number of companies in India, including Zomato and Bangalore-based startup Dunzo have posted over 20 lakh verified jobs on the platform through Google Pay integration.

Earlier this month, it rolled out a virtual visiting card feature in India (Click here to know more about this feature). I feel Google's this initiative will hurt LinkedIn. They don't the strong presence in the emerging markets as Bangladesh / Indonesia.

Let's take for instance, in India - LinkedIn has 68 Million active users as of July according to Statista and Google reaches about 400 million users in India.

Bickey Russell, Regional Manager and Operations Lead at Kormo Jobs (Google) said the company will continue to invest in bringing new features and jobs to the app in the future (Click here)

Kormo Jobs, Google may now compete with other job portals in India that include the likes of LinkedIn, Naukri. They will make also make the competition tougher for classified advertising platforms Quickr and Olx that have dedicated job listings to cater to job seekers.
